After an offseason of minimal turnover, the San Jose Sharks are bringing back largely the same talented but underachieving roster that has fallen short in the playoffs for a number of years. Here are five games on the Sharks' schedule in 2014-15 that you won't want to miss.
5. October 21st, 2014: San Jose Sharks at Boston Bruins

Even a full decade after the Boston Bruins flipped him away in one of the worst trades in NHL history, Joe Thornton and the San Jose Sharks returning to play in Boston is still a source of intrigue. The fact that the Sharks and Bruins are two of the most talented teams in the league doesn’t hurt.

Like the Sharks, the Pittsburgh Penguins entered the offseason following a failed 2013-14 campaign vowing wholesale changes. While San Jose’s promises were nothing but hot air, Pittsburgh’s turned out to be legitimate. This game won’t answer the question of whose philosophy was correct, but that doesn’t mean it won’t provide some evidence.
3. October 26th, 2014: San Jose Sharks at Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks are one of San Jose’s biggest rivals, and games between the two are always loaded with star power. Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture being up against Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and newly acquired Ryan Kesler makes this “must watch” material all on its own.
2. October 8th, 2014: San Jose Sharks at Los Angeles Kings

San Jose’s season opener comes on the road against the Los Angeles Kings, the same team that ended the Sharks’ 2013-14 in ignominious fashion.

This marks the first time that the Sharks will match up against the Kings at home since last spring’s historic, collapse-completing Game 7 blowout in favor of LA at the SAP Center. The atmosphere should be one of the most electric (and potentially negative, if San Jose goes down early) of the NHL season.
