Mighty Rodney McGruder Keeps Kansas State Unbeaten in the Big 12

Kansas State didn’t look ahead to Tuesday’s match up against Kansas at home, with thanks to the offensive play of Rodney McGruder. They didn’t take their eyes off of the other unbeaten team in the Big 12 till this afternoon, the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners kept pace with the Wildcats most of the way by crashing the boards, but what cost them the game was their turnovers. Every time you looked around it seemed like they had butter on their hands and couldn’t keep a hold of the ball.

This game of the unbeaten’s was a well fought game and was close until the last few minutes of the game. McGruder played sensational for the Wildcats down the stretch, but he didn’t take all the credit for the win. “We’re a team,” McGruder said. “Not just one person can lead us to victory. We do this collectively. That’s great. I’m proud of everyone who stepped up.”

The Wildcats are playing as a team ready to devour anyone in their pathway. They came out fired up in front of the home crowd and finally got that win against the Sooners that they needed. Their defense looked great, but they had a hard time crashing the boards. Coach Bruce Webber stated: ”Our dives, loose balls, deflections, those little things make a difference,” and “We made up for the lack of rebounding by getting those . 50-50 balls, or those energy kind of plays that you need.”

The Sooners played a tough game, but could never take captive of the Wildcats mistakes and turnovers. They were great at rebounding and shooting the rock, but couldn’t get the job done today. They had a hard time stopping the Wildcats from shooting the tri-factor. When they get back to Norman, Lon Kruger needs to show them how to play better defense before they play Texas at home who about beat Kansas today. The Wildcats can now look ahead because in two days their archival, the Kansas Jayhawks come to town and the winner will claim bragging rights and more importantly will be in first place in the Big 12 and undefeated.
