UCF: Marcus Jordan Quitting Basketball, Keith Clanton Staying
Phil Sears-US PRESSWIRE

When, in late July, the NCAA handed down a one-year postseason ban on the UCF Men’s Basketball team many people expected a few of the Golden Knights recruits to be headed elsewhere. But that was not really the case. Many of UCF’s recruits chose to stay, but one player, who has been certainly been in the spotlight for his short-lived college basketball career, has chosen not to, not only stop playing for the Golden Knights basketball team, but to stop playing basketball in general. That player is the son of Chicago Bulls legend Michael JordanMarcus Jordan.

Jordan, who will be heading into his senior season at UCF, averaged 13.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game last season. According to CBSSports.com basketball writer Jeff Goodman, Jordan has chose to enroll in classes at UCF, but will not play basketball this upcoming season. Additionally, and as Goodman pointed out, Jordan could change his mind in the near future, and with the way Jordan is, he’s kind of crazy, you never really know with him.

On the positive side for UCF fans one of the hottest recruits in college basketball, after the NCAA announced the one-year postseason ban on UCF, Keith Clanton, has decided to stay at UCF. Clanton, who is projected to be the Conference USA player of the year this upcoming season, averaged 14.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game last season. Saturday night, while having a birthday celebration, Clanton posted this to his Twitter account, ”I think to people’s surprise I will be returning to UCF for my Sr. season. I love this team and my dreams and goals can be fulfilled here.”

Senior point guard C.J Reed is one of the few UCF players to transfer, choosing to take his talents to Georgia Southern. Meanwhile forward Josh Crittle, who has been undecided on his next move thus far, may now be leaning towards staying with UCF after hearing of Clanton’s decision. But, Crittle has paid a visit to DePaulUniversity recently and there has been talk that, now, DePaul is the favorite to land Crittle.
