The recent monsoon to hit the Valley of the Sun has caused slight damage to the roof of the University of Phoenix stadium. Opened on August 1, 2006, the stadium is home to the Arizona Cardinals and Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
The official spokesman for the University of Phoenix, Scott Norton, stated that is is a possibility wind got under the metal structure, flipping a piece of it up onto the roof causing the fabric to puncture.
Water and debris from the roof fell to the floor, but no employees working were injured. For their protection from injury, employees have been told not to come back until it is said to be safe.
With the preseason to start in three weeks on August 14, the stadium will be evaluated soon to ensure it is safe for any activity.
