Game Two Preview: Arizona Diamondbacks at Milwaukee Brewers
After a very disappointing Game One, the Diamondbacks are looking to salvage one of these two games in Milwaukee today before this best of five series heads to Phoenix for Game Five.
On the mound for Milwaukee will be Zach Greinke, who is pitching on three days rest in his first start in the postseason. The young right-hander allowed five hits and two runs over his last start in a win against Pittsburgh back on Sep. 28.
Milwaukee deciding to throw Greinke on three days rest makes sense considering how well he has pitched at Miller Park this season. Greinke is undefeated at home in 15 starts during the regular season. His ERA is 3.13 at home and it is more than a 1.5 higher on the road.
Recent history, however, has shown us that pitchers aren’t always at their best at three days rest. We will find out today when Greinke and Chris Carpenter goes for St. Louis.
Daniel Hudson will be on the mound for Arizona. Huddy was great in his first full season at the big leagues, but he did struggle early on in several games. In his first 30 pitches of the game, opposing hitters are hitting well over .300 against Hudson. That drops considerably as the game wears on.
The big key to Arizona evening up this series will be Hudson getting off to a good start. The last thing you want to do is spot Milwaukee a run or two early on to get the crowd going and give Greinke confidence right off the bat. That would be difficult to come back from, even for a team that had the most comeback win this year.
Here is the Diamondbacks lineup for Game Two. I have been unable to find an official release on who the Brewers are sending out there, but I am sure it isn’t any different than yesterdays.
