Brian McCann Returns to Lineup Today for the Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves held their breath on Friday night as Brian McCann was removed from the opening game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This marked the second consecutive game against the Pirates, that McCann was injured in. The injury was described to be minor later that night. The hope was for McCann to rejoin the team on Monday at the earliest. That changed early on Sunday morning.
According to David O’Brien from the Atlanta Journal Constitution, McCann texted Fredi Gonzalez that he was ready to go this morning. He tested out his side for the coaches and he is in the lineup for the Braves today.
McCann’s return to the lineup will also greet Tim Hudson’s 2012 debut. He is rejoining the Braves after offseason surgery on his back.
The Braves are aiming to take control of the series against the Pirates and also move into a tie with the Washington Nationals for 1st place in the NL East. They missed an opportunity to move into a tie last night as they lost to the Pirates. Hopefully, Hudson and McCann will lead them into first place by the end of today.
