James White scored on a 4-yard TD run in triple overtime to give the Iowa State Cyclones a 44-41 victory over in-state rival Iowa (1-1).

White also scored in the second overtime to put Iowa State (2-0) ahead 38-31, but Iowa tied it up when Keenan Davis caught a 23-yard TD pass from James Vandenberg to set up the dramatic third overtime session.

Steele Jantz had a big game in the air for the Cyclones throwing 279 yards and 4 TD’s on 25 of 37 attempts. None bigger than the touchdown to Darius Reynolds on fourth and goal from the 4 yard line in the first overtime to tie the game at 31.

Iowa’s Marcus Coker was impressive in the loss rushing for 140 yards and 2 TD’s.

The Cyclones broke a three-game losing streak to Iowa in what was their first overtime game in 59 meetings against their rivals from the Big 10.

Iowa State’s 44 points is the most they have ever scored against the Hawkeyes.
