For a conference that has been much maligned over the past few seasons, the Big East conference has been better in 2011 and had a few big wins on the field. Here is a recap of all eight Big East games over the weekend.

Cincinnati 44 NC State 14: The Bearcats were impressive on Thursday night against NC State out of the ACC. Cincinnati dominated from the beginning and posted an impressive victory at home. Running back Isaiah Pead rushed for 167 yards on 27 carries for Cincinnati. He also had a touchdown on the ground and one through the air.

Connecticut 17 Buffalo 3: The Huskies have struggled early in the season and after two straight losses, got back to their winning ways, knocking off Buffalo on the road. Receiver Nick Williams had two big catches for the Huskies for 113 yards and a touchdown.

Notre Dame 15 Pittsburgh 12: The Panthers gave Notre Dame all they could handle before falling in the end at home to the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame scored a big fourth quarter touchdown to put them ahead for good. Running back Ray Graham was held to only 89 yards on 21 carries for Pittsburgh.

Syracuse 36 Toledo 33 (OT): The Orange had perhaps the most interesting finish of the season, defeating Toledo in overtime thanks in part to a missed Syracuse extra point that was called good late in the fourth quarter. That gave Syracuse a 30-27 lead and propelled them into overtime.

Rutgers 38 Ohio 26: Receiver Mohamed Sanu paved the way for the Scarlet Knights, catching 16 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns as Rutgers beat the undefeated Ohio Bobcats at home.

South Florida 52 UTEP 24: The Bulls continued to show why they are the best team in the Big East. They pummeled UTEP 52-24 led by the arms and legs of quarterback B.J. Daniels. Daniels rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. He also passed for 202 yards and two scores.

LSU 47 West Virginia 21: The Mountaineers proved they can move the ball on anybody, but turnovers proved costly in this one. Quarterback Geno Smith passed for 463 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Tavon Austin had 11 catches and 187 yards.
