University of Oklahoma to unveil Sam Bradford statue

According to several reports, the University of Oklahoma will unveil a 10′ statue of former quarterback– and current St. Louis Rams starting quarterback — Sam Bradford this coming Wednesday.

The statue will be added to the university’s Heisman Park along with statues of former Oklahoma Heisman trophy winners Billy Vessels, Steve Owens, Billy Sims and Jason White in an area situated directly across from Owen Field on the Oklahoma campus.

The official unveiling on Wednesday will be followed by a celebration which Bradford cannot attend because of his schedule conflicts with the Rams, but university president Joe Castiglione has stated that another celebration will take place in the future which Bradford can attend.

There’s little doubt that Sam Bradford left a lasting mark on Oklahoma football and is well-deserving of this honor. Bradford again made the Sooners an attractive destination for quarterback recruits, helping another Heisman candidate, Landry Jones, make his decision to come to Norman.

Bradford is showing promise as an NFL starter as well, and could very well lead an improved St. Louis Rams team to one of its better performances in recent memory this next season.
