DURHAM, N.C — History was made for the Miami Hurricanes Basketball program Sunday afternoon by upsetting the #5 Duke Blue Devils 78-74 in overtime. This was the program’s first ever win at Cameron Indoor Stadium and only second ever against Duke.
“To come in here and play with the kind of poise we did, play the kind of defense we did — especially in the first half and in the overtime — was something that we can be very, very proud of,” first year coach Jim Larranaga said.
Miami was led by 6″10, 284 pound Reggie Johnson with a career high night of 27 points and 12 rebounds. This is Duke’s second home loss this season, both to unranked opponents. Miami is 14-7 overall, 5-3 in conference play, while Duke drops to 19-4 overall, and 6-2 in conference play.
