Austin Rivers’ Sister Dates a North Carolina Player

Duke freshmen guard Austin Rivers took a few jabs at North Carolina before he even put on a college uniform this fall.

Here he was before the season started, “I don’t think it’s much of a rivalry right now because UNC’s not better than Duke, nowhere near in my opinion,” Rivers said with a smile. “Until UNC can start winning some games, I don’t think it’s much of a rivalry. They’ve got to do something first. Duke’s done their share. I don’t know about UNC.”

It’s a heated rivalry but he already had a grudge against UNC because his very own sister, Callie Rivers, is dating North Carolina guard Dexter Strickland.

Callie played volleyball at the University of Florida from 2007-2010 but has been spotted multiple times at the Smith Center and Cameron Indoor Stadium to root for her respective interests.

Strickland injured his knee earlier this season so he did not play in tonight’s tobacco road showdown in Chapel Hill. But if he had the two would have been matched up on one another the whole night creating even more story-lines than already existed.

Rivers got the best of the Heels tonight as he hit a game winning three at the buzzer to stun UNC 85-84.

I wonder who Callie was cheering for tonight because someone will not be happy with her.
