Missouri Gets Caught Looking
With Kansas looming on Saturday it was apparent that Kansas State would be a trap game.
I guess nobody told that to Missouri.
Frank Martin and the rest of the Wildcats went into Missouri and shocked the No. 3 Tigers 78-68 to give their NCAA Tournament resume a much-needed boost. The Wildcats are only 8-7 in the Big 12 but two of those wins have come over the Tigers.
It was Mizzou’s first lost at home this season and only the fourth home loss in the career of the Tigers’ 5-man senior class.
K-State was led by Rodney McGruder’s 24 points and led by as many as 16 points in the second half before holding off a late Tigers rally to win it.
That’s the third marquee win on the Wildcats’ resume after beating No. 13 Baylor this past weekend and beating Missouri at home earlier this year.
But that should not solely get them in the tournament, they will likely have to win their last three games of the regular season and win at least two in the Big 12 Tournament to get an at-large bid.
Regardless, it’s a big win on the road against a ranked conference opponent.
