NEWARK — With the 2012 NBA Draft set to take place Thursday evening, there is a chance that lottery teams that such as Cleveland, Toronto and New Orleans could make the jump to playoff contention in 2012.
Cleveland, who would select Duke point guard Kyrie Irving, number one overall, would lead all rookies in scoring and win the NBA Rookie of the Year.
With selections at No.4 and No. 24, The Cavaliers are in prime position to take the next step towards playoff contention, and out of the ever-looming shadow of LeBron James.
New Orleans, who are widely assumed to take Kentucky power forward, Anthony “The Brow” Davis, have a promising young core of Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman and Al-Farouq Aminu, and with picks at No.1 and No.10, the Hornets—like the fore-mentioned Cavaliers—have a chance to take the next step towards contention in the ever-loaded West.
Below are the top ten picks as selected by writers from Rant Sports. The picks are based on projections, best fit and most likely scenarios for the respective teams involved.
3.) Washington Wizards – SF Harrison Barnes ( Dave Daniels)
9.) Detroit Pistons – PF/C John Henson (Jeffrey Everette)
