NFL Rumors: Devin McCourty Has “No Limitations”
According to the owner of Good Energy Training where New England Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty has been working out, the former Pro Bowler “really has no limitations at all for his shoulder” and is completely healthy for training camp in two weeks. McCourty injured his shoulder last season against the New York Jets when he collided with teammate Sterling Moore trying to defend a pass.
If McCourty is fully healthy as reported than it would be a huge boost for the Patriots defense which is still young a relatively thin going into 2012. In 2011 the Patriots had the worst defensive secondary in the league which was the weakest spot on an otherwise solid roster.
The Patriots made moves in an attempt to improve their fledgling secondary with the signings of veterans Will Allen and Steve Gregory. In the NFL Draft they selected Alfonzo Dennard who, without jail time, could improve this young corps. The team will also be getting back 2010 second round NFL Draft pick Ras-I Dowling who was injured after only two games in 2011 but who the team expects to be a big part of the defense this coming season.
With additions on offense and defense, the Patriots are already expected to defend their AFC title and are in a good position to win their fourth Super Bowl in team history. This is one of the important NFL rumors and if it is true, it will greatly improve the Patriots defense since in McCourty’s only fully healthy season with the team, he was named All-Pro at the position.
