Drexel Dragons Announce 2012-2013 Home Schedule

By Jake Fischer

The Drexel Dragons have released their 2012-2013 home schedule. Among the usual home games against Colonial Athletic Association rivals, the Dragons will face a few mainstream conference opponents.

Last season, the Dragons went 29-7 overall and 16-2 against CAA opponents under head coach James “Bruiser” Flint. Now, behind the electric scoring of 6’6″ sophomore guard, Damion Lee, the Dragons must forget about last season’s success and shift their focus to their upcoming 35 games or so this winter.

Recently, the Dragons announced who exactly they will be competing against in those aforementioned games—well at least the 13 home games they will host.

First, the Dragons face the Missouri Valley Conference’s Illinois State in their home opener on November 15. Second, Drexel will face MAAC opponent Rider on December 1. Their next big matchup at home occurs when the Davidson Wildcats of the Southern Conference on December 22. This contest will feature two defending regular season conference champions. Following that matchup, the Dragons will face the Saint Joseph’s of the A-10 on New Year’s Eve.

Following these non-conference home games, the Dragons will play nine-straight home games against CAA foes. The Dragons will face Towson, Northeastern, Georgia State, Delaware, Old Dominion, James Madison, George Mason, Hofstra and UNC-Wilmington.

The Dragons don’t have a particularly difficult non-conference home schedule. Their only serious competition are the Davidson Wildcats. Last season, the Wildcats went 25-8 overall and 16-2 in the Southern. Illinois State went 21-14 overall last season, but failed to boast a record above .500 in their conference.

Look for the Drexel Dragons to take advantage of their semi-easy non-conference home schedule during their 2012-2013 CAA Regular Season title defense.
