Johnny Machurek

NHL Featured Writer & Philadelphia Flyers Featured Columnist

Johnny Machurek was born and raised in Delaware. He has been following sports since he was around four or five. It is hard to find a sport on television that Johnny will not watch. In 2004 he interned with the Kansas City Royals' Advanced-A club the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Johnny performed some on field activities but his highlight was getting to write the out of town scoreboard script for the radio pre-game. In July 2011, Johnny started working for Rant Sports as the featured columnist for the New York Rangers. In October 2011, Johnny became the featured columnist for the Philadelphia Flyers. Since writing for the Flyers, Johnny has interviewed the legendary Bernie Parent and NHL All-Start Scott Hartnell. In Feburary on 2012 Johnny was made a featured writer of the Rant Sports NHL Page. Just as every year since 1975 the Philadelphia Flyers will not hold Lord Stanley’s Cup, as they lost the game and series last night against the New Jersey Devils. The Flyers were without star Claude Giroux last night who was serving a one-game suspension.  With how the game went last night, he could have made an impact. [...]

The Philadelphia Flyers have had no problem scoring so far in the playoffs, the only thing that has hindered them at times is the play from their netminder.  Last night Ilya Bryzgalov gave them a solid effort, but Philly could generate no offense. Matt Read struck first for the Flyers just 2:53 into the game.  That would be [...]

The Philadelphia Flyers came out very rusty, playing their first game since they eliminated the Pittsburgh Penguins last Sunday.  The win yesterday over the New Jersey Devils was a lot close than than last Sunday’s contest. Philadelphia as usual fell behind in the first when Zach Parise scored 3:16.  If it was not for the play of Ilya Bryzgalov [...]

The Philadelphia Flyers have defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins and will now move on to the second round, but should they be worried about their defense moving forward? The Philadelphia Flyers were smashed at home by the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight 10-3 to forcing a game-five.  The Flyers netminder Ilya Bryzgalov was yanked after giving up five-goals, but is it possible he is hiding an injury? The Philadelphia Daily News usually has some pretty clever titles on the back page, but they have outdone themselves this time.  Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby has had his face Photoshopped onto the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz and said it is time for the Philadelphia Flyers to finish him off.
