General Manager Ruston Webster said that most surgeries of this kind almost always end up requiring a second procedure but he is not in the least bit worried about Britt having a full recovery. Britt has been participating in the Titan’s offseason program for the past few weeks and he seems to be rehabbing it well. If this is what he thinks needs to be done to assure a healthy recovery, then so be it. It would be a waste to play half of the season just to aggravate an improperly healed ACL.

On the defensive side of things, the coaches are really going hard on linebacker Akeem Ayers. In an interview over the weekend, Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator, Jerry Gray, told The Tennessean that he needs Ayers to really step it up this season.

“We need Ayers to get some sacks. We need Ayers to have a dominant attitude that, ‘You know what? A tackle isn’t going to block me. A running back isn’t going to block me’.” He has been spending a lot of time with the assistant defensive coach and watching film on his own. He is getting ready and is really excited for the 2012 season.

Considering that the Titans were one of the worst teams in the league last year when it came to sacks, it is going to be a step in the right direction for the Titans if the defense is able to kick it into gear. From the sounds of it the Tennessee coaching staff is covering all the right measures to make sure that the Titans not only have a season over .500 but make an appearance in the playoffs.

With this deal, the Titans-once again, look to build the defense that will carry them through the playoffs. The Titans picked up Martin in the sixth round of the draft from Oklahoma State. This is a player who’s numbers are consistently going up which means he pushed himself to the extreme every time.  He was ranked fourth in the NFL combine in safeties and 100^th in player performance overall. Last year alone he had 65 tackles for Oklahoma State and forced two fumbles.

The Titans are looking for a good core group of young players to help behind their few veteran players like Matt Hasselbeck, Chris Johnson and Nate Washington. The defense has players like Derrick Morgan, who has really been able to step it up but he cannot do it alone.

This draft class has already shown potential in the off season program and they will continue to climb with the leadership of coaches like Mike Munchak and general manager Ruston Webster.

The Titans have four other players from the 2012 NFL Draft along with many other undrafted free agents that are able to be signed in this off season. It all depends on the work ethic and the game that these talented men are able to bring to the field and whether or not they will become Titans for the regular season.

Though the specifics of the deal are not all fully released yet, the Titans making him an offer clearly states that he is going to be a member of the team and he will help with the progression of play throughout the season.

Martin has some big shoes to fill and I am hoping that he will be able to handle the stress of becoming a professional as much as they say that he can. He recorded 54 tackles and has great size for the position standing at 6-foot-10 and 306 pounds. He is going to be a massive piece of machinery for the Titans. In his career he has 172 tackles and 10 sacks. During the NFL Combine, back in February he had the third best vertical and tied for the best broad jump. He was second in bench press and everyone knows that his main job this year will be to bring the power and replace Cortland Finnegan.

The biggest thing that I am excited for is to see him at the pass rush. According to his stats at the Combine, he is going to be a great asset to the team in this way and it’s going to be solid for Tennessee.

According to head coach Mike Munchak a second surgery is a definite possibility however Derrick Morgan had some of the same work done last season, so the team is familiar with the injury. Munchak told Titans Insider that, “I don’t know if he will at some point, but I think that’s something that’s common with that injury. Derrick went through it last year. The good thing is that even if you do have it, it’s not a huge setback. It’s not something that sets you way back. But that is obviously part of the process, or could be, if that arises down the road.”

To me, I don’t think this will be a huge setback for the Titans, I firmly believe that Britt has taken many precautions both in and out of the weight room. The fact that he has been rehabbing the knee for quite some time now is encouraging to know that the knee is not getting irritated easily. Which is a very good sign.

The Titans were able to do without a healthy Britt last year, but having the Playoffs be a goal this year, will definitely require everyone to be at 110%. It’s a good thing that Munchak and the rest of the coaching staff has a lot of confidence in their players because they need every bit to rule the AFC South this coming season.

Though the football team may still make some changes to the roster, the cheerleaders are ready for the season with the wrapping up of their try-outs last week. They have finalized the remaining girls and they are all excited to become what they call “TTC”.

It was an excited event as s crowd joined the finalists on Wednesday to be judged by twelve celebrity judges of which three of them included Tennessee Titans Pro Bowl safety Blaine Bishop along with wife, Cella; former Miss Tennessee USA, Allison DeMarcus; Fox-17 Morning’s Kelly Sutton, and award-winning country producer Michael Knox.

The celebrity votes counted for two thirds of the final vote and then the rest of the ballot was decided on by Stacie Kinder, Director if Cheerleading. She held interviews with each girl prior to Wednesday’s audition.

Many of the girls listed below are veterans, like Molly Moenkhoff. However it’s always nice to welcome in “rookies” to the squad to bring in new personalities and energy. I guess I never realized this, but not every football team in the NFL has a cheerleading squad. Think about it everyone, if it wasn’t for cheerleaders like these, the adrenaline in the stadium just would not be the same.

The Tennessee Titans have 53 men on their football team, and their cheerleading squad is about half that size at 27. It’s just another reason why Tennessee has one of the best programs in the league.

His day started with in Sullivan County at Hampton Elementary and Middle Schools. His speech mainly focused on the importance of the program that the NFL has made called the NFL Play 60 Program. Not only the NFL but most doctors recommend that people of any age get at the very least 30-60 minutes of exercise every day.

Later in the day Kenny Britt joined Locker at the Academy Sports and Outdoors in Chattanooga. Everyone is still talking about how Britt will come back and when he does, will be he fully healthy? In my opinion, from reports I have seen, Britt is putting in the rehab hours. He is constantly on the field improving and getting himself back to be 110%. He knows the shoes he needs to feel and that the Titans will need him this coming season.

Britt also made appearances in Alabama yesterday.

During this offseason the Tennessee Titans have now established a solid offseason program without the interruption of a lockout. Currently, the players have 90 minutes with the coaches on the field where the Quarterbacks can run with receivers and tight ends. But the defensive players aren’t allowed on field at the time.

Ultimately Jake Locker would love to become the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans, however there is still a lot to work on. He is a young quarterback and knows there is more than just his talent that will factor into becoming the starter.

During the Caravan he made this one of his closing statements. “My goal is to earn the respect of the guys around me, not to ask for it. How you go out and work and prepare yourself, they can tell it means something to you. You’re not telling anybody you’re going to be perfect all the time, but knowing that you’re going to give it your best shot, and whatever the outcome is, it is, but you’re not going to regret what you’ve done because you went about it the right way.”

It was a good day for Coty Sensabaugh, the Cornerback that was picked in the fourth round in late April out of Clemson. Many people are very excited to have Sensabaugh on the team, saying that even though he is young, he has an excellent mind and that it’s very mature. Many scouts could not get away from the fact that they could not believe how well this kid knows the game of football.

Well it’s a good thing, because it’s not like he has to fill the shoes of Now St. Louis Rams’ Cortland Finnegan. But the ability to learn behind guys like Matt Hasselbeck, Kenny Britt and Chris Johnson is going to give him that extra boast of confidence that any rookie is looking for during their first season.

While at Clemson, Sensabaugh had 87 tackles in 52 games with four interceptions. He managed to break up 18 passes and is able to put a bit of pressure on the quarterback when it’s needed. I am very excited to see the kind of work that he puts in on the field.

In seeing his rise in the NFL combine any person who understand the stats of football will realize that he came in as an under the radar player that just exploded through all the tests and drills that the players were put through. It will be interesting to see the maturely level in which he can play with while learning from veterans in a professional league.

The Titans draft class is as follows, Kendall Wright, Zach Brown, Mike Martin, Coty Sensabaugh, Taylor Thompson, Markelle Martin, and Scott Solomon.

Defensive tackle Mike Martin was on scene to speak with Titansonline.com and he told them that he was excited to be there and that it felt like college all over again. Nice analogy Martin. I’d tell him that I would agree with that statement, but he is on a bigger stage now. Fortunately I don’t think that Titans fans will have to worry about an ego on this kid. He told reporters that, “It’s completely new, but the one thing that stays consistent is we’re playing ball, so that’s the exciting thing about it. The field’s 100 yards long.”

Aside from the draftees undrafted free agents started to float in, players like Collin Mooney, who has spent his last four years in the United States Army.  But don’t let that fool you, while playing for the Army Black Knights, he recorded 1,339 rushing yards (a school record). During his commitment to the Army, he worked as a strength training coach.

He drove himself to the field today and could feel the excitement even this early in the process. Mooney told reporters, “I had never been to this city. I was going to an NFL team, so it was a lot of emotions and feelings going on during that ride. I was trying to keep the emotions and the nerves in check.”

It was a very emotional day for everyone but the real works starts as early as tomorrow. Today the guys were sized up for helmets and went through physicals and were scheduled to have dinner tonight with Head Coach Mike Munchak.

Today the tour actually started in Blountville were Locker was up and ready to go at an Elementary school at 8:15 a.m. The program lists that when a player makes an appearance they give a speech about how important it is to keep healthy and to get at least 60 minutes a day of exercise.

Locker did this drill at many different elementary schools between yesterday and today. He also appeared at Hampton Elementary, and Mosheim Elementary schools. By 3:30 p.m. he was in Knoxville at the Academy Sports Outdoors and it wasn’t until 6:30 p.m. when Kenny Britt joined him at the Academy Sports Outdoors’ location in Chattanooga.

Today, Locker made more appearances this time with Rob Bironas and Jake Locker who greeted over 600 fans today between Smithville Elementary, Northfield Elementary and Homestead Elementary all in Crossville. Bob Hyde (Vice President of Community Relations for the Titans) said it was the fifth largest crowd in Titans Caravan history.

It was the first time that Locker has attended the Titans Caravan, considering his recent drafting, but he was surprised by the number of fans that approached him and told him they liked his potential and that they were excited to have him on the team. Locker wasn’t the only on getting attention though, Bironas was pulled aside a few times by fans to reminisce on some kicks that helped get the Titans to their 9-7 record last year.

The Titans Caravan continues throughout this week until Friday May 11.

The amount of community involvement not only stands out with the NFL but it also brings the fans closer to the team to make the connection to the fan base even greater. With the Titans Caravan the team tours throughout numerous cities in Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky to meet fans for a fun day.

The Caravan started in 1998 to give goodwill throughout the area. This year a total of six staff members will travel throughout 50 stops with the players and the Titans mascot, T-Rac. This year’s Caravan started last Monday, April 30 and it will run into this Friday, May 11 with special appearances from different Titans players with every location.

The Caravan started with appearances by Michael Roos, and Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, Cornerback Jason McCourty, Tight End Jared Cook, Alterraun Verner and Linebacker Colin McCarthy. Head Coach Mike Munchak also made appearances last Friday in Pulaski, Fayetteville, Shelbyville and Murfreesboro Tennessee.

Yesterday former Titans players safety Blaine Bishop and Frank Wycheck made appearances in McMinnville, Gallatin and Mount Juliet Tennessee. The players sat and signed autographs for hours at every location throughout the day for thousands of fans.

Today it was Kicker Rob Bironas and Quarterback Jake Locker. The day got started early for Bironas. He was at Smithville Elementary School by 8:30 a.m. and then moved to Sparta and Crossville. He was then joined by Locker in Cookeville.

The Caravan doesn’t just provide endless opportunities for autographs and pictures for fans though. There are activities set up like football skill races and many team building exercises alongside the players. This is such as great way for players to earn the respect of their fans. Taking the time out of their offseason, right after the draft and during the start of their offseason program truly shows that they respect their fan base.
