Bruins Continue to Struggle against Hurricanes
Role players played a big role in the Hurricanes victory over the Bruins on Wednesday night. Anthony Stuart and Jiri Tlusty, who play on the Hurricanes third and fourth lines, both scored in the third period to secure the Hurricanes first win of the season 3-2 over the Bruins.
Even though it was only the fourth game of the season for the Canes the team realized how important starting off the season on the right foot is.
Cam Ward looked good in net stopping 26 of 28 shots including a great, late save on a shot from Bruins’ Milan Lucic.
Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand (keep watching this guy) scored for the Bruins in the third period to bring the Bruins back within one but Ward fended off the Bruins to secure their first win of the season.
Seguin, who replaced David Krejci as the first line center Wednesday night, netted the first goal for the Bruins bringing the game to 2-1 from a nice touch pass from Nathan Horton and shot it past Cam Ward with 15:53 left in the third.
Carolina’s Tlusty answered back extending the Hurricane’s lead to two again at 13:32 in the third. Patrice Bergeron fed a nice pass to Brad Marchand and ripped a one-timer past Ward to pull the Bruins within one.
Thomas made 31 stops in the loss, he has lost two straight starts.
The Bruins power play continued to struggle going 0-5 against the Canes pushing them to 1 for 18 on the season so far.
The Bruins travel to Chicago to play the Blackhawks on Saturday night. The Blackhawks are coming off a win against Winnipeg Thursday night starting off the season 2-1.
