Brad Marchand Has Some Choice Words for Buffalo
Following the Bruins’ 4-2 victory in St. Louis, the team traveled to Buffalo for the final leg of their six-game road trip, which will see them play back-to-back games against the Sabres on Feb. 24 and the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 25. Before the team plane left Missouri, though, Brad Marchand did a radio interview in which, among other things, he expressed some dislike for the next city on the checklist.
In a call-in interview with Mut and Merloni on Boston sports radio channel WEEI, Marchand talked about scoring droughts, the road trip, the trade deadline and Nathan Horton. Tyler Seguin also spoke after first being heard in the background jokingly shouting “I love Brad Marchand!” in a high voice.
However, right at the end of the interview, Marchand was asked if he liked traveling to Buffalo since the team plane was about to depart and they needed to finish talking.
“Buffalo is the worst place in the NHL, so I’m not too excited to go there, but I’ll be excited to leave,” he said. When pressed further about this distinction, he revised himself a little: “It’s one of them, yeah. It’s up there.” But he did not elaborate further.
Marchand may not like the city of Buffalo too much, but he does have a fairly good record with them. In the 2010-11 season’s six-game spread with the division rivals, he played all six games, scored two goals and got an assist. This season so far, he has played all three games to date, scored two goals and tallied two assists. Sure, there was that 0-6 blowout earlier in February, where he came out a -2 for the night, but we’ll just consider that an aberration.
