The battle of the Boston Bruins prospects continues in Ontario with the OHL Championship Series between the London Knights and Niagara IceDogs. The Knights, featuring 2010 Bruins draftee Jared Knight, beat the IceDogs, featuring 2011 Bruins draftee Dougie Hamilton, 3-2 in Game 3 to grab the series lead.

The game stayed scoreless in the first, but the IceDogs’ Brett Richie broke through for the first goal in the second period while on the power play. The Knights answered less than a minute later with a Max Domi goal to tie up the game. Though Freddie Hamilton broke the tie near the end of the second (no assist from his brother this time), once again the Knights provided a fairly quick answer from Austin Watson. A very active second period ended with it all tied up at two and this score stood for much of the third. But then, with less than four minutes remaining in regulation, London’s Chris Tierney snapped the tie and gave the Knights the win.

If you live outside Ontario but want to keep an eye on the series, both teams have Twitter presences. If you want one that takes a different spin on livetweeting the games, go for the Knights. The person who runs that one gets so excited that they are prone to using funny turns of phrase, like these gems from Game 3:

RIGHT AFTER the @OHLIceDogs goal @max_domi with the GIFT rebound yawwwwwning cage tap-in!!! #justtaaaaapitin 1-1 #KnightsTalk

Note the abundance of exclamation points and hashtags. It makes for fun Twitter game-watching.

Also note that Michael Houser, the Knights’ goalie, just won the Red Tilson trophy, given to the OHL’s most outstanding player of the year. Another goalie who won the Red Tilson back in his day was Andrew Raycroft, who later spent time between the pipes as a Bruin. More recently, Tyler Seguin won the award during his time with the Plymouth Whalers.

This championship series now shifts back to Niagara for Game 4 on May 9.
