Boston Celtics Glen Davis Out To Prove He Is A Difference Maker

The beginning of last year is something Glen Davis would like to forget. After playing unbelievable in the 2009 playoffs, he was coming into the year with bigger expectations than ever before. He proved in those playoffs that he could play at a high level on a big time stage and excel. Problem is Davis nearly blew his chance by breaking his thumb in a stupid drunken fight before training camp. The result was his momentum was gone and he missed half the year recovering. He also played like a shell of himself upon return as the thumb was still taped up. The situation was a nightmare for both Davis and the Celtics.
However, once again on the big stage, Glen Davis shined. He played with great energy in the playoffs. He was easily the Celtics best player off the bench. Despite being smaller in stature, he played big. He crashed the boards with energy, hustled on defense, and had a knack for hitting big shots. His play energized Boston to big wins against Orlando and Los Angeles. Glen Davis again left the playoffs with a lot of momentum coming his way.
Unlike last year a more mature Davis is out to prove that he is a difference maker. There are reports that Davis worked hard in the offseason to get into better shape. He has also worked on his jump shot from the top of the key that was lethal in 09. If his jump shot is better, he is in better shape, and his energy play is there: look out NBA because Davis will be one of the best off the bench. A bull like Davis is already a great at crashing in the middle. If his jumper is there as well, then the Celtics will have a scoring option off the bench that was not there for most of last season. An option like that should give Boston a few more wins than last year.
In his short time Glen Davis has proved he can play on the grandest stage despite his lack of size. This year he looks to excel for an entire season. If he does, Boston’s X-factor will have Celtics fans smiling in June again
