Boston Celtics Rajon Rondo Has Many Critics: Another One Gets Torched

I think Rondo is one of the most over rated players in the NBA right now. I don’t get why people don’t just play off Rondo, he seems so easy to stop. IF you go under the screens and not over them he can’t do anything. But constantly players stupidly start to think Rondo can shoot and go over the screen. Once you’re on that situation almost any decent point guard could make a play, look at the players that surround him. He cannot shoot one but, announcers say he has improved from last season, if he did it was very slightly, he still is one of the worst PG’s in the NBA at shooting. HE also plays very lazy D and just tries to go for steals.
This is not a thread hating on the Celtics, I think you are the best team in the NBA and play the best D I have seen in a very long time, this is just a thread hating on one of the most over rated played in the NBA, Rajon Rondo.
This was one of the many I hate Rondo posts out there. For fun I am going to shred this fine gentleman. People do not understand the greatness of Rondo.

Teams do play off Rondo. Do you think the Lakers strategy in 08 was unique? Do you think no other coach tried this? Problem is he is usually fast enough to follow screens’ and still dominate the game. He also tends to hit his only three jumpers over the screen. Rondo is a better shooter. Problem is he still needs work. However, if you can be that effective without a good jumper, you are not over rated. Teams then get lazy. Any decent point guard could make the play? Sam Cassell was decent. I never saw him make plays. Stephan Marbury is talented, why was he not being like Rondo? Just realize the man is a unique talent.
HE also plays very lazy D and just tries to go for steals.
You must not have watched the 2010 NBA playoffs. The man locked down, Mario Chalmers, Mo Williams, and Jameer Nelson. He also had some of the finest steals in Celtics history. Ask Jason Williams. You do not make the All defensive team just being able to make steals.
These are the kind of ignorant messages out there. When will people realize that this man just makes his teams win like Jason Kidd, Magic Johnson and other great point guards. Maybe after his next ring people will finally realize his dominance and appreciate what he can do instead of worrying about what a fourth year player cannot do. However, until they do, I will be shredding people one idiot at a time.

WOW! it is about time somebody did this for rondo, i keep hearing people say this negative stuff and the first thing i say is “they must have not seen the 2010 finals”, the lakers had their best player “kobe bryant” guarding him, which says alot, rondo did his thing in the playoffs and the finals, this is why you keep hearing his name, i think that when he first came in the league they were talking about his jump shot and now is just labled a bad jump shooter, but every player has his weaknesses, but just check out his strengths, his defense is on lock, he passes like a harlem globe trotter, he can steal, he can get into the paint, he’s the best floor general in the NBA, and he will hustle his azz off, he was a real pest to kobe in the finals. its about time somebody spoke up for 1 of the best pg’s in the nba, and also one of the best players in the nba.

Easy, they are not. They see one game and see aguy that has one flaw or hear the announcers say something and cling to it. Sometimes people are sheep with little information.
When you can cut down the man who supposedly is the best player on the planet(aka-Lebron),you know you must be doing something right. And let’s not forget Magic Johnson calling him “the best all-around point guard in the league”. Rondo staked his claim this year. He’s here to stay. Either play with him or get out of his way.

People over look the most important aspect of his game…His Team Wins. I find that funny because young Jason Kidd had an inconsistant shot and was loved by all because he made his team win more games. Rondo? He gets the shaft.
Okay first off I do like rondo, in fact I’m one of his biggest fans, what he brings to the table is very unique. That being said I am very critical of him as well, I do agree with some of the comments that the rondo basher posted. I do believe his defense is overated, he does get alot of steals but he gambles and gets burned more times then it pays off, and for the record jameer nelson burned rondo in the playoffs the other guys listed mario is a nobody and mo williams is way overated anyways. Now rondo had a very good playoff run up until the lakers and his weaknesses werent really exposed until the finals because the other teams, magic, heat, cavs, dont play defense, at least not like the lakers do(i hate the lakers for the record but just making a point)In the laker series rondo being on the floor was more of a liability than anything, during that series I was upset with doc for not giving nate robinson more playing time seeing that he was explosive scoring points in bunches making shots and he played better D then rondo(maybe rondo was tired) nate played with hussle unlike rondo whom seemed to drift off into space at times and not looking interested in the game. I never heard of a point guard that was so bad at shooting and making free throws(shaq will be glad he wont be the worst free throw shooter on the team) People give props to rondo for his rebounding ability but that stat is misleading due to the fact that nobody plays rondo tightly so of course nobody boxes him out on rebounding attempts. If you put rondo on another team lets say a bad team, rondo wouldnt be a allstar and maybe not even a starter. I do believe rondo is good at a leader and runs the offense well and is a good passer, of course having 3 hall of famers playing with you can make anybody better then they seem.
You lost me at more of Nate Robinson. We went even further apart with the defense knocks. They just give away defensive all NBA teams, right? In the four wins over Orlando, Rondo owned Jameer. Jameer would score his points in the few minutes Rondo rested. Then if the game was out of reach, Jameer would get a basket or two. The fact you over rate his defense scares me. Rondo on another team now would still put up huge numbers. The question is does his team win? I think he does.
Rondo got exposed in the finals against the Lakers? 1celtsfan1, what were you watching. Nelson torched him? Did Nelson lead his team to the finals? No. Did Nelson shoot 50% from the field last season or lead the league in steals? No. All of the critics(yes I am calling you one of them) say he cannot do this or that yet in Game 2 of the ECF he hit a big jumper to keep Boston up by five in a game they would win. The last two postseason he has almost averaged a triple double, including the two TDs he put up. How many did Mo Williams, Derrick Rose, and Derek Fisher have combined over the same period? None, zippo, nada. Also, you don’t lead the league in steals if you cannot play defense. He is a ball hawk, and the only reason Nelson got off in games 4 and 5 is because of the high pick-and-rolls that were ran to get him out of Nelson’s uniform. Until then you needed the FBI to find Nelson. As for the Lakers if Rondo was not a threat then why did Jackson have Kobe and Artest play him instead of D Fish? All I have to say to you is “Get some facts and get back to me!”
rondo locked down who? mo williams? nelson? uh i think that makes the point that he isnt that great at defense… his greatest steal in history was a travel… and the lakers won the championship because they played off him and he cant shoot… looks like you just shredded yourself with dumb logic
In the playoffs Mo Williams scored 75 percent of his offense with Rondo not on the floor. Jameer was held to poor shooting in all four Boston wins. The fact he recieved more votes than any player not named Dwight Howard on the all defensive team voted on by the NBA coaches that have forgotten more about NBA defenses proves my point. Before you call out dumb logic, make sure you know your facts. Remember this: Come stronger or get shredded.
