A lot of people deal with a very tough mental disorder known
as Bi Polar disease. Imagine being in a state that controlling your own
feelings of emotions was in your own power. When you are sad and depressed, you
just cannot fight your way out of your depression.   An unbelievable moment that should have you
beaming with pride and happiness could happen, but if the depression sets in,
the moment will not fill that person with the perceived joy. This is what life
has been like for Delonte West as long as he can remember. Delonte at times
never felt the highs that he should have from his success on the basketball
court. West in his recent interview with Slam magazine has made it clear that
he would have to sometimes win a game with a great shot, and yet feel that same
empty miserable feeling after the game.

West
had some tough moments last season.  The
infamous gun incident cost him a contract with a number of teams as his former
team the Cavs let him walk. He dealt with the confinement of being under house
arrest from that infamous motorcycle gun incident. This meant a great deal of
seclusion from his teammates last year. He also had the wretched wrist injury
that cost him serious playing time that could have cost him the entire NBA
season. Delonte was armed with the ultimate excuses to have his disease get the
better of him and push himself further away from his dreams of continuing his
career in the NBA.

The
great news that makes West a true inspiration is he did not let his emotions get
the better of him. West could have gone to a dark place, but instead worked his
tail off. West channeled his focus to all the right places to keep his mind in
the right place. He focused on basketball and the road to recovery after his
injury. West would rehab like a man processed and come back from his injury. He
would be ready in time to help Boston through the playoffs. West was one of the
few bright spots off the Celtics bench with great defense, solid shooting, and
playmaking.

Bi
Polar is not a disease that should be taken lightly. Many people have a very
hard time dealing with it. A lot of people are too ashamed to even admit that
they have it. West not only is out in the open that he has the disease, but he
is bringing needed attention to this plight. The man is also shedding positive
light by his continued career. West had some serious issues last year and yet he
kept fighting. If West can do it in the national spotlight than anyone else can
as well with this disorder. This makes West a true inspiration to the masses. Remember
Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!!!!!!!
