Boston Celtics Rajon Rondo Is Seeing Stars
I never like to see a player get hurt. However, in this case at least the result of the injury is righting a serious injustice. Atlanta’s Joe Johnson was ruled out for the NBA All Star game in Orlando due to minor injury. According to Celtics announcer Sean Grande via twitter, the NBA selected Boston’s Rajon Rondo to replace him on the East squad. Rondo has been the best Celtic this season and deserved the nod. His snub was a serious injustice that has now been fixed.
Paul Pierce is one of my all time favorite Celtics and he had a solid month that helped lead Boston to an impressive winning streak, but that was only a ten game stretch. Rondo has led this offense the entire season. His numbers clearly show this fact. Rondo is averaging 14.8 points a game, 9.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. These numbers are all the more impressive when one considers all the injuries Boston has had. The team is in disarray, but they would be lost in the abyss without the play of Rondo this year.
Granted his recent blow up was stupid (The dreaded Ref Ball Toss incident against Detroit) and I also believe he has to mature more in order to become the true leader the team needs. Until he does this he will forever be a guy Celtics president Danny Ainge is wondering if he can build around or should deal. However, he deserved to be an all star. His play clearly warranted that over even Pierce. The great news is the wrong has been righted as Rondo is finally seeing stars. Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!!!
