The Boston Red Sox have reached into the past and signed Mark Prior to a minor league deal. Not a bad move seeing as they can’t really lose anything with it. Everyone knows about the Mark Prior stories, the hype, the 2003 season where he was unhittable, then all the arm injuries that derailed his promising career.

Mark Prior will be pitching in extending spring training for awhile, and that’s where the Red Sox plan goes unknown. If Prior pitches well, do they bring him up to the big club? Who goes down? Who gets dropped from the 40 man roster? A lot of questions surround the move, but again? No risk, maybe big reward.

I hope it works out for Prior. He’s gone through hell, and he deserves a shot to pitch again in the big leagues. I can only wish the guy luck from here and out and hope things work out okay for him.

Really, this must be a joke….The Red Sox have the money to spend on wishfull thinking , or to be nice to the guy. Yes, at one time he was in the top 10….but that is in the past. Red Sox management is puzzleing…..very.They just seem not to address the real issue…Have they looked at the performance of the present staff…It will take some doing to get away from this idea of has beens solving the problem….Spend some money on excellent pitching coaches and scouts….again I ask …HOW DOES TAMPA BAY DO IT….Got to be a reason They have developed an excellent pitching staff….Or St.Louis, Dodgers,Atlanta even the Yankees, but they like Philly bought theres

I fail to see why this is a bad move. They’re not giving Prior millions. It’s a minor league deal which means he’s not making any money.

I understand the frustration of the Red Sox right now- but you guys won two WS’s in 6 years. It’s not easy winning the title every year, and expecting to do so sets you up for huge disappointment.

Changes need to be made, and a quick rebuilding process should help that. Either way, Boston will get back there at some point. Big Market teams can’t act like small market teams.
