One of the great things about baseball, is that it inspires fans and writers alike to debate over who truly are the greatest players in baseball. We argue over whether or not Justin Verlander deserved to win the MVP award, or how Clayton Kershaw performed better than Roy Halladay. Or we can look further back, and ask why Alex Rodriguez or Ken Griffey Jr. didn't win the AL MVP award back in 1996, despite putting up extremely impressive numbers.
But it's much harder to predict who the best players will be for next season. We can use projection systems, like CHONE, FAN projection or even Bill James. Sometimes, it's scary how accurate these systems can be. In other instances, we wonder how they could ever come up with crazy numbers like Matt Wieters posting a 900 OPS in his major league debut!
Today, I want to take a look at some of the best hitters in baseball. What do I think they'll do over the course of a full season? And just who is the best hitter in baseball?
