Rumor/Report: Texas Rangers Outfielder Josh Hamilton “Relapses” at a Local Bar

Other sources have used the word report; however, I feel more comfortable calling it a rumor.

According to Baseball Time in Arlington, Josh Hamilton isn’t completely over his past demons. Gerry Frarley, who is a reporter for DallasNews.com, said “sources familiar with the episode” saw Hamilton drink alcohol in a bar Monday night.

The Rangers did make a statement that they were aware of the situation, and left it at that.

Hamilton, who is a recovering substanse abuse user, had one other public relapse when pictures were taken of him intoxicated at an Arizona bar in January, 2009.

With the help of family and friends, Hamilton has been sober since 2005. Also, Hamilton became an adamant born-again Christian. Hamilton is such a believer in the Lord, that he thought his home run in Game 6 of the World Series was God’s work.

Personally, I think this story is an overreaction. Sure, it’s sad if Hamilton did have a drink, but who knows what he actually drank, how much he drank, and how bad of a relapse it was. I’ll wait to judge Hamilton until more is released on the situation.
