According to reports, Cuban defector and first-tier outfielder prospect Yoenis Cespedes has agreed to a 4-year $36 million deal with the Oakland Athletics.

Both Yahoo’s Tim Brown and Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle have tweeted in the past few minutes that the YouTube sensation will be signing on the dotted line to play for the A’s this season.

Cespedes is a power hitter who also has outstanding range in the outfield from what scouts have seen, and according to many could quickly develop into a five-tool player.

Signing Cespedes is a huge coup for Billy Beane and the Oakland front office, given that it was expected among baseball writers and pundits that he would be more likely to land in a larger market.

Whether or not Yoenis Cespedes will be an instant star in 2012 is yet to be seen, but one has to figure that he will make an impact on the A’s organization either way– sooner or later.
