All of the Boston Red Sox nation was rejoicing Friday as former hero Pedro Martinez returned to Fenway Park to help celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the park.  A lot of former Red Sox greats showed up to the park to reflect on the century of baseball in the park.

It is nice to see Pedro come back and received such a warm welcome.  He left Boston probably before he was ready to go and just could not replicate his success in his other stops.  That might have to do with age, but I bet that he wasn’t really ready to leave Boston either.  He was huge in getting Boston back to the top and helping them win the 2004 World Series.  Without Pedro’s dominance, the Sox would have had issues in the early 2000s.

Pedro certainly looks like he has been enjoying a life outside of baseball.  Seems to have put on a bit of weight since his playing days.  He was so skinny back in his prime, but this Pedro has a little bit of extra weight on him.  Not there is anything wrong with that, because it must mean he his finally enjoying life after baseball.

It is a great day in Boston, even if the team is struggling so far this season.  Bringing all the old faces in is a great move, even though some key names are missing out.  However, bringing Pedro back has to help make up for a lot of it.  He was one of the best pitchers in the majors during his stint in Boston and should be remembered for it.
