Washington Nationals Pitcher Stephen Strasburg Strikes Out 13
Charles LeClaire-US PRESSWIRE

Washington Nationals Pitcher Stephen Strasburg is quite possibly the best pitcher in the league right now. On Thursday against  the Pittsburgh Pirates, Strasburg struck out a season-high 13 over six innings in route to his third win. Yes, you heard that right, 13 over six. At one point, Strasburg struck out seven straight batters. That is just a ridiculous stat line right there.

With the win, Strasburg improved to 3-0 while dropping his ERA to a paltry 1.64 by making the Pirates look more like a little league team, rather then a big league ball club. The 23-year-old right-handed phenom gave up just two runs, one earned, on five hits in six innings. He walked three, all of them coming in the sixth when he loaded the bases. Strasburg escaped that inning unscathed when he blew by Garrett Jones with a 95 mph fastball.

13 k’s were the most since his 2010 debut when he struck out 14 over seven brilliant innings in his major league debut on June 8, 2010, against the same Pittsburgh team.

Apparently, Strasburg, as well as everyone else, dominates against the poor Pirates. Where’s Captain Jack Sparrow when you need him?

As for the other Nat’s phenom, outfielder Bryce Harper went 1 for 4 and committed his first major league error in the fourth inning when he tried to throw out Jose Tabata at home plate. The ball bounced off catcher Jesus Flores, allowing Andrew McCutchen to move to second.

With these two superstars, the Nat’s are looking to make things happen this season. Washington is currently 19-12, and are in first in the National League East.

I have a feeling that this season could be the start of something special in the nation’s capital.
