Three Defensive Prospects Visit Buffalo

The Buffalo Bills have a number of defensive holes to fill, and on Tuesday they made it clear they plan to fill them via the NFL Draft.

Three defensive prospects made the trip to Buffalo on Tuesday. Among the players who made the trip was the once highly touted North Carolina defensive end, Robert Quinn. Fellow Tar Heel inside linebacker Quan Sturdivant and California defensive end Cameron Jordan were also present at One Bills Drive.

Heading into what would have been his junior season, Quinn was potentially the best defensive player in the draft. However, he was forced to miss the entire season after he was found to have received improper benefits from an agent. Quinn recorded 11 sacks in his sophomore season at North Carolina, but missing an entire season forced his draft stock to take a hit. Perhaps the third pick would be a reach for Quinn, but if the Bills trade their pick he should be available later in the first round.

Jordan is a big guy for a defensive end, definitely possessing and NFL body. However, his size makes him more of a physical pass rusher than a speed guy. Jordan is the son of 12-year NFL veteran, tight end Steve Jordan. Like Quinn, he is a second-tier defensive prospect, a step below top players Von Miller and Marcell Dareus. He’s a projected mid-first round pick and could be available if the Bills were to trade down.

In a weak class of linebackers, Sturdivant is one of the top players at the position. The Tar Heel is projected to go anywhere between the second and third round, and the Bills have holes to fill at the position.
