In a move that makes me want to cancel my season tickets and become a monk, the Chicago Bears embraced bad football by hiring Kansas City Director of College Scouting Phil Emery to replace Jerry Angelo as General Manager. It’s perhaps the darkest day in franchise history.

Who the hell left Ted Phillips in charge of this search? He’s hired a guy from a franchise that has a worse record than the Bears. Instead of being an attempt to close the talent gap with the Green Bay Packers, it’s an effort to close the talent gap with the worst franchises in football. Emery will be able to draft top talent because he’ll be in the top five for years to come.

I guarantee you on Monday we’ll hear all about Emery’s work ethic. If you suck at something, work harder at it, doesn’t that mean it will suck more? You’ve given the reigns of this franchise to an assclown with a whistle. But he’s supposedly tough from his Naval Academy experiences. He’s worse than Sarah Palin.

As you can tell, I am beyond pissed. For more venom, follow me on Twitter at ChicagoBearJew.

  1. The Robster says:

The hiring of Emery is a great move for the Bears. Sorry Chicago Bear Jew but you are probably one of the most pessimistic and ignorant Chicago Bears fan commenting on the web. They hired a pretty savy GM and I think you should quit rushing to judgement and being so obnoxious all the time. This is an upgrade over Angelo.

    • Chicago Bear Jew says:

Why don’t you read my work? I’ve been right a hell of a lot more than I’ve been wrong.

      • The Robster says:

I do read your work and you are more wrong than you are right. But I don’t expect you to admit it. Their number one candidate simply didn’t want to leave BAL. They did what they could. The Bears are actually incredibly close to contending for a SB visit. I think with the right additions this offseason, the Bears will be a lethal team next year. Cutler has arrived. Now lets surround him with some better talent on offense and lets start actually hitting on our draft picks for once. Personally, I am a big fan of Lovie Bear and Mike Tice.

  2. O5KR4T says:

CHICAGO BEAR JEW… HOW CAN I SAY THIS NICELY….YOU’RE AN IDIOT. HE’S THE BEST ON THE MARKET NOW. WHEN SOMEONE CAN SPOT TALENT LIKE HE HAS I THINK HE DESERVES A CHANCE TO RE-BUILD THE BEARS. LOOK AT HIS TRACK RECORD OF PLAYERS THAT’S BEEN DRAFTED BY THE EVERY ORGANIZATION HE’S BEEN ON. CHICAGO BEARS -URLACHER, BRIGGS, TILLMAN, VASHER, MARTY BOOKER, MIKE BROWN, TOMMIE HARRIS
ATLANTA FALCONS – RYAN, BLALOCK, RODDY WHITE, WITH KC THEY DRAFTED ERIC BERRY. SO HE DOES HAVE A GOOD TRACKER RECORD OF BRING IN GOOD PLAYERS.

  3. Taburz says:

Horses CBJ….rein em in. Seems a little premature to call this a downgrade by any means. From what I’ve researched and read it should be a good upgrade over Angelo. Watch how the offseason plays out then throw in your two cents. I’m actually slightly optimistic about this guy. Give it time, this could be the most exciting offseason the Bears have had in awhile.
