According the multiple reports, the Bears re-sign cornerback Tim Jennings to a 2-year deal minutes before free agency began. Jennings was set to become an unrestricted free agent. Jennings will still come into training came as the starter and on the other side of Charles Tillman.

The Bears signed Jennings prior to the 2010 season. Jennings was signed to a reserve role and eventually took the starting role from Zachary Bowman (Bowman will likely leave free agency). In 2011, Jennings played all 16 games and recorded 77 tackles, 1 fumble force, 1 fumble recovery, 2 interceptions and 10 pass deflections.

A stat that I found interesting on Jennings … he did not allow a receiving touchdown in 2011. I believe he was on of 2 CB’s to not allow a touchdown.

The Bears could still explore a cornerback via free agency as there’s a great chance Corey Graham will leave free agency too. The Bears will love to have Graham back, but he’s likely to land on a team where he will get more playing time and now just on special teams. Graham did play nickel back, but just when DJ Moore was injured.

I’m not a huge fan of Jennings, but think it’s a good signing for him and the Chicago Bears.
