This just in: Michael Bush is reportedly down to two teams … Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks. No surprise, tho. We still don’t know when Bush will announce the team he will sign with.

Will the Chicago Bears sign running back Michael Bush? The Bears reportedly met with Bush on the second day of free agency. But we have not heard anything since those reports. Michael Bush was slated as the best running back coming into free agency. However, he was not the first running back that was signed … the Carolina Panthers announced a 4-year deal with RB Mike Tolbert yesterday. So … that’s one team that won’t be in the running for Bush’s services.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler may want Bush … he told WSCR that he has been texting back and forth with Bush. That could be a positive in Bush wanting to come to Chicago. Bush would also join his old QB Jason Campbell from Oakland. By no means Bush would start, he will play the same role he did in Oakland when he was behind Darren McFadden. Matt Forte is and will always be the starter if he does not occur an injury.

As of right now, the Bears have 2 running backs that will be in the backfield come the first game of the season. The Bears have Matt Forte who was tendered the 7.7 million franchise tag and Khalil Bell who was tended 1.26 million. If the Bears were to sign Bush, that would push Bell from the 2nd string to the 3rd string running back and Bush will be the new 2nd string running back. However, could Bush be the replacement for Forte is no contract extension is reached? I have seen reports saying that, but I can’t believe it because the Bears and Forte should hammer out an contract extension eventually. I wouldn’t look much into that if I were you.

As you can I see, I didn’t mentioned Marion Barber. Barber is still on contract and on the depth chart; however, Barber is expected to be released at some point. Barber is telling people that and most of every media outlet is saying Barber will be released. I expect him to be released too. Definitely if the Bears sign Bush, that’s a no brainer Barber will be cut and probably soon after that.

Another team that has interest in Bush is the Seattle Seahawks. There were conflicting reports saying that he has a meeting scheduled with Seattle and other people say he does not. He would be in the same role as if he signed with Bears. It looks like Bush will backup Matt Forte (Bears) or Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks).

Those are the two teams that have shown the most interest in Bush and one of them are expected to sign him. I don’t know how the money or contract would look like.

Other news and notes:
*The New York Jets reached a 1-year deal with safety LaRon Landry.
*The Tennessee Titans reached a 5-year deal with DE/LB Kamerion Wimbley.
