From an anonymous source from within the Tom Izzo camp, I have been informed that Tom Izzo will be interviewing today for the Chicago Bulls head coaching vacancy.

This is huge.  Tom Izzo is a legendary basketball coach.  He has been at Michigan State University since 1995.   In this time he has won a NCAA Championship in 2000, has been to the finals twice and has been to the final four six times. Under Izzo, the Spartans have been to the tournament 13 consecutive years.

Izzo is well thought of and highly respected.  On the Dan Patrick show a couple months ago,  Izzo said he gets contacted by NBA teams every year.  He said some are thought provoking and others are something he might have read in a joke book.

The Bulls head coaching job would be perfect for him and him perfect for Chicago.  The young roster needs someone who is tough and would demand respect.  They also need someone that knows every aspect of the game of basketball.  Izzo is the guy.

He has been around the game since 1973 when he played college ball for Northern Michigan University.  He has been coaching since he graduated in 1977.

Izzo is known for coaching strong guard play and rebounding.  Does that ring a bell?

The Bulls have a point guard named Derrick Rose, who many think is top five in the league at his position.  Then there is Joakim Noah who can grab any ball in a 50 foot radius.   If he came to Chicago, he would have two immediate stars in his system, but oh,  he can teach too.

Izzo knows how to work with players.  He turned Mateen Cleaves into a Spartan hero.  Jason Richardson and Shannon Brown blossomed under his knowledge.  Brown was an NBA champion last year and Richardson has always been a dominant scoring threat. He also had a guy named Zack Randolph, who could be the best low post scorer in the league, if he had his mind right.

There is no doubt in my mind that Izzo would turn the Chicago Bulls organization around.  Usually I hate when college coaches try their skills in the NBA game, but with Izzo,  I’m excited to see his greatness.

He knows how to make any five guys on the court work as a well oiled machine.  Izzo has the tested mind of someone who has been in the business 37 years.  He has dealt with all types of players and has shaped those different types into great ball players. Chicago deserves a coach who can turn the Bulls current roster into great ball players.  Izzo would be a perfect fit.

Summer free agency has been the biggest concern around the Chicago Bulls organization.  Who will they get?  Would they fit well with Rose, Noah, Deng, Gibson and Hinrich?  Why would these free agents want to come to Chicago?

If the Bulls had Tom Izzo on their sideline the possibilities are endless.  I’m sure Lebron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade know and respect Izzo.  Wade went to Marquette University in Wisconsin, I know he heard about the Michigan State Spartans and Tom Izzo who went to the elite eight in 2003, Wade’s last year in the NCAA.

Izzo would be something new to the league, meaning a new beginning for any of these superstars.  The supporting roster is all ready there, and with Izzo, there would be a proven and respected head coach.

Plus,  hiring Izzo, would show the free agents that Chicago is ready to do whatever it needs to do to get more championship banners hung in the rafters.  1998,  the last hanging banner, is 12 years ago.  Isn’t it time to bring championship basketball back to Chicago and its fans?

Izzo has proved he can win.  Izzo has proved he can create NBA talent out of any player whether a big man or a guard. After 15 years of the same job, isn’t it time for a new challenge?

The Bulls job is the perfect challenge for Izzo.  He could prove he can coach in the NBA.  He could possibly coach arguably the best player in the game.  Plus, he could bring championships back to the mid-west, where he has practically been his whole life.

Izzo is a perfect candidate for the job.  I hope he goes into this interview with a chip on his shoulder to show Bulls management he wants to do the best to his ability with the opportunity.

Honestly,  this is what the Bulls need.  They need a guy who is going to come into the club house and get the best out of their players. The Bulls need someone who is going to demand respect but at the same time be a father figure to a young squad.  They also need someone who is fluent in teaching and motivating a team to win ball games.

Izzo can do that.

    Good luck on that.

A guy with a similar disposition from Michigan State was run out of Chicago not that long ago, wasn’t he? Oh yeah, wasn’t his name Skiles or something?

To the owner of this blog, I don’t know if you have much credibility with Bulls fans, but whatever amount you have you are risking big time.

Not only is Izzo not coming to Chicago, I sincerely doubt that he is even giving a “courtesy” interview.

Why couldn’t it be true. He is a man who has conquered all he can in the NCAA and Michigan State. It is only human nature to want a new challenge.

What does Skiles have anything to do with Izzo. Skiles is nowhere near Izzo’s level. Just because they are from the same school doesn’t mean anything.

To my readers and Bulls fans, I got this dropped by a guy who is in the Izzo camp.

It’s crazy how people only believe statements if they’re on ESPN.

WOW!! What a professionally written article! MY favorite part is

“Wade went to Marquette University in Wisconsin, I know he heard about the Michigan State Spartans and Tom Izzo who went to the elite eight in 2003, Wade’s last year in the NCAA.”

Is this implying that Wade heard about MSU because they were both in the NCAA Tournament (and elite 8) that year as the sentence implies?

Or does that statement refect on the fact that Wades head coach was former Izzo assistant Tom Crean? Or does it imply that an assistant for Wade when at Marquette is Dwyane Stephens, who played when Izzo was an assistant and is currently on Tom Izzo’s staff at Michigan State.

And if it implies none of that, does that sentence imply that Wade watched the NCAA Tournament on TV, so he HAD to have heard of Tom Izzo?

This article reads about as well as Paris Hilton article on Nuclear Physics.

It reads like Michigan State and Tom Izzo went to the elite eight that year, not Wade and Marquette. Wade has played for Izzo assistants.

“I know he heard about Michigan State and Tom Izzo” is called an ironic statement.

Not a chance in hell. If you want a reason why not, try reading this article, by a real journalist. But I’m sure someone who has actually interviewed Coach doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Keep dreaming. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog/_/name/katz_andy/id/5238694/izzo-continues-build-legend-msu

Izzo would be perfect for the NBA game he is a leader and above all that is what NBA players need. He has done everything he could for Michigan State.

So what? The writer says he has credible information and seemingly did his job as a reporter. I’m sure he has bosses who signed off on the story as well as Yardbarker AND foxsports.com jumping on it.

If both of those sites reported on this article WITHOUT verifying the legitimacy of the article- how is that good reporting? Futhermore- if Fox had the gall to publish this, why hasn’t anyone at MSU turned down the rumor similar to Duke turning down coach k?

Not to mention- how would any of you people know? Do you have anyone inside the bulls or izzo’s camp? Yeah that’s what I Thought. Does Brian Kelly mean anything to anyone else? Just because someone denies it doesn’t mean nothing’s happened. Who knows if Izzo is interested? The bulls would be stupid not to be interested in him and izzo would be stupid to not hear the bulls pitch. Either way- good article.

“Only one of those six trips (2000) resulted in a title, however. So Izzo won’t say he’ll never go to the NBA but does claim the thought won’t cross his mind until he wins a second national championship.”

Somebody fed this douche a huge plate of “Bull”$#!+.

I got this information from a real source. I didn’t lie or write the post to draw hits.

I wrote it to get the information out to readers. If ESPN would have put it up before I did, I would have been just another blogger following them.

So, I get a source, get inside information and write the post. According to you guys, I”m not a real journalist, a douche, rather pathetic and etc, because you don’t want to believe it. Your cherished coach is looking around for a new job.

Yard Barker and Fox Sports covered the article. Don’t they follow up writers claims, or do they just agree with anything someone writes? Fox Sports isn’t just a little website followed by a few local hometown sports junkies. They put a piece about Izzo in their video on the home page.

When Coach K was said to be looking for a NBA job, Duke put out a statement killing the rumor. Michigan State or Tom Izzo haven’t done that.

MSU and Izzo haven’t put out a statement? Izzo saying he won’t even consider it until winning another title is what then? Or how about another article with Tom saying that he’s happy where he’s at, does that count as a statement? http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/12052/tom-izzo-never-says-never
It’s complimentary that so many fans want Coach Izzo, but I just don’t get it when teams think that they actually have a chance to get him away from us.

JR, basketball is a mental game also. James physical ability makes him a good player, but knowing what to do in different situations, how to play without the ball and how to make every player on his team at least decent would make him a great.

Go Green and just about everyone else who commented: I didn’t say he got the job or was even offered a contract. I said it was reported he was getting an INTERVIEW. Guys (human beings in general), like to know their options. There has been many guys who said they’re not interested in a job, but have interviewed.

Since when does a reporter leave comments defending his story??? They don’t. They report what a source tells them and move on to the next story. The Bulls apparently have hired Boston’s assistent coach, so you think you get a pass. Wrong. You’re NOT a real reporter. You CAN name your source. Real reporters don’t, but again, you’re NOT a real reporter. I love that some douche, there I said it again, makes up a story to get hits on a website and somehow he’s the only “reporter” with the inside track on said story. How conveinent for you. Your mother must be very proud. Have a nice day, Douche. Chicago blows. That’s why it’s the “WINDY CITY”.

By the way, thanks for Obama. What a huge tool he turned out to be. You guys should hang…couple of Chicago Douches.

If you want what little crebility you have left to remain, id suggest you get rid of your “anonymous source” re this article.

In addition, as an MSU grad and an izzo lover, i see no reason why the legal midget izzo would do any better at the NBA level than any of the other great college coaches who have failed miserably.

You got your scrub coach now anyway.
