Chicago Bulls Defeat Utah Jazz 118 to 100
With greats like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in the United Center last night, the current Bulls didn’t disappoint as they took down the Jazz 118 to 100.
Pre-game festivities were all about the great teams and championship’s the Bulls won in the ’90s, but as Jordan himself put it. “You may be in store for six more championships here in Chicago,” which was the real story.
The Bulls got off to a fast start and didn’t look back. Derrick Rose went five for six from three point range in the first, which set a new team record, and the Bulls led the entire game.
It’s wasn’t all good though, Chicago turned the ball over 13 times leading to 15 fast break points for the Jazz, Chicago was also outscored by ten in the paint. Also, Carlos Boozer is still listed as day to day and has now missed two straight games.
From what I could tell, after the Bulls got comfortably in the driver seat, they seemed to let up on the gas, and coast to a win. Now as much as I preach about how the Bulls need to harness that killer instinct, this one really doesn’t concern me as much as it maybe should. Would it have been nice to limit those turnovers and come away with a 40 point win, sure, but they seemed to be having fun on the court, which can sometimes be even more important.
If this team continues to gel like they are, that killer instinct will come in time. When this team is loose and having fun, they are at their best, and are most dangerous.
With the win the Bulls moved into a tie with the Boston Celtics for first place overall in the East. They are in control now, and the season doesn’t look to be coming to a close any time soon.
