To the relief of many fans, Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver A.J. Green is the anti-Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco.

Quiet, soft spoken and humble, Green does not seek attention or have his own reality TV show nor does he get into distracting off-the-field Twitter disputes.

With the Bengal’s surprising 1-1 start, Green may soon do some talking of his own.

Selected fourth overall out of Georgia, the 23-year-old  6’4 207-pound Green was widely compared to—and the subject of debate by draft experts—former Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver—Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons as to who was the top wide receiver prospect in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Thru two games, Green leads all rookie receivers with 11 receptions, 165 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Green is also fourth among receivers with an average of 15.0 yards per catch.

Green would have 10 catches for 120 yards and one touchdown—a spectacular  highlight-reel —five-yard catch from rookie quarterback Andy Dalton in the Bengals 24-22 Week 2 loss to the Denver Broncos.

Green’s first NFL touchdown, a 41-yard pass from back-up quarterback Bruce Gradkowski on a quick-snap against AFC North rival Cleveland in Week 1, came against former SEC nemesis—former Florida Gator— and current Browns cornerback Joe Haden.

Cincinnati would go on to defeat Cleveland 27-17.

With his combination of speed, balance and breath-taking body control, Green has the makings to become the next Calvin Johnson-like impact wide receiver in the NFL. Jones and Green will be linked forever due to their paths crossing in the elite SEC and the non-stop comparisons between the two leading up to the 2011 NFL Draft.

While Jones may have the luxury of playing on a Super Bowl contender down in Atlanta, Green appears to have something special of his own developing in Cincinnati.
