Photo: St. Louis Cardinals Celebrate Wild Card Berth With ’2011 NL Central Champions’ Posters in Locker Room
Believe it or not, the St. Louis Cardinals were 10.5 games back of the Atlanta Braves for the Wild Card spot back on August 25–yet they still managed to clinch the final playoff spot with some help from the Philadelphia Phillies on the final game of the 2011 regular season. Obviously, the Cardinals celebrated their clinch with a champagne shower in the locker room after the Phillies-Braves game came to an official end after 12 innings on Wednesday night–but a photo that has surfaced shows St. Louis may have been partying as if they had just won the division.
As you can see in the photo above, there are numerous posters throughout the locker room that say “2011 NL CENTRAL CHAMPIONS” with the Cardinals logo listed below. Considering the Milwaukee Brewers won the division by six games and St. Louis was forced to settle for the Wild Card spot–why would the Cardinals be hanging these posters around the locker room when everybody knows it isn’t true?
Either way, the important thing for St. Louis is they made the playoffs and they’re just excited about the opportunity to be playing in October–even if it means pretending to celebrate as if they just won the division. Thanks to our friends at Terez Owens for the photo above.

It’s funny. But it just looks like one guy in a locker room watching TV while the Cardinals were on a plane from Houston to St Louis – according to ESPN.
Umm…there’s 2 guys there. Shows what a bunch of arrogant s.o.b.’s the cards are. F the cards. Go Phillies!
i agree allcalls , i have watched brewers/cards series all year. the cards always, and i mean always complain about how the brewers are not ‘professional’. oh well they like to have fun so fucking what. but i never seen a group of guys bitch so much in my life, if they were girls i would have thought they were on their time of the month.

that we have fun that we laugh
that braun ‘watches’ his homers, (pooh-holes does it eveyr time)
that we are some how stealing signals from some mystery man.
there are many more things tony larusa bitched about. but the brewers are too smart of a team to fall into his dumbass mind games trap
