Covering press conferences is not a fun thing. Asking questions at press conferences can open you up to be ridiculed by everyone in the room. Sometimes the question you ask may seem important, but the coach or player lets you know how stupid your question really is. Or in the case of this reporter, your question is moronic right off the bat.
After his first round loss in the China Open, Andy Roddick was asked by a reporter if he was considering retirement. First off, that’s bad form to ask a player if he’s considering retiring right after a match. Unless it’s Brett Favre. Roddick wastes no time putting the reporter in his place by telling the reporter to retire.
Well played Andy, well played. That was a lot better than any of your tennis play lately. That might be the underlying problem here.
Thanks to Sharapova’s Thigh for the story.
