Video: Tim McCarver Does Not Know How Many Letters are in “Strike”

Tim McCarver is well known for being kind of a dimwit. His announcing tends to point out the obvious or butcher some basic understanding of sport. In tonight’s game, I think he may have set a new personal low.
After a strike out to end the top of the 7th, McCarver uttered a soon to be famous phrase. ”It’s a five letter word. S-t-r-i-k-e.”
Oh Tim. You goofball. Everyone knows there are SIX letters in strike, not just five. McCarver later owned up to this mistake, but I’m sure it’s going to be talked about for a long time.
