5 Teams That Chris Paul Would Instantly Make Title Contenders
It's no surprise that the NBA owned Hornets are trying to trade Chris Paul before the end of this season where he will ultimately leave as a free-agent and the Hornets will get nothing for him. But David Stern keeps shooting down deals, and at the same time kicking the asking price for Paul up. In the latest deal submitted by the Los Angeles Clippers (in which the Clippers pulled out because Stern was asking for too much) the Hornets were asking for Eric Gordon, Eric Bledsoe, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, and multiple first round picks.
Stern is now determined to keep Paul in New Orleans for the remainder of the season as he is the only real reason for fans to come out to games. It seems as if Stern is trying to make a point that players will not be able to dictate to their team where they want to go, and he is also determined to spread the talent around to the mediocre teams to hold true to his words of making the league more friendly to these types of teams. The only reason the deal for Paul by the Lakers was shot down was because it was in fact the Lakers. The excuse of "basketball related reasons" was b.s because the team that would of came out of that deal the best was in fact the Hornets, and the only team that would of gotten screwed over was the Rockets. But I digress.
So getting back to the topic on hand. Paul is still being shopped around by the NBA, and the front-runner to land him right now is the Los Angeles Clippers. But even if the Clippers do land Paul they would have given up so much that there chances at any sort of extended playoff run would be almost obsolete. So I put together the top 5 teams that, if Chris Paul went to, he would make an instant title contender. Now I put them in order of least likely to happen to more likely to happen. That was the only criteria.

Dude, that’s just stupid.
You listed 5 current contenders with only one (Celtics) that has any way of getting Paul.
The Knicks, Lakers and Heat don’t have the cap room to sign him for more than 3 or 5mil/y, and neither do the Magic, except if Howard goes (and there really would be no point going to Orlando in that case).
If you’re gonna say whatever you want, at least include the Mavs or Thunder, who actually have the assets and/or cap room to get him.
It’s not about where you want him to go, it’s about where he might go.

Actually, the Lakers could make another swing at him via trade, but I don’t believe they will…
I know the Heat don’t have the cap room that is why I listed them as 5th. The Lakers are clearing cap space and are still in the process of doing so. If they trade what the Magic want for Howard, Bynum and Gasol, they will have the cap room to sign Paul in the off-season. And as for the Knicks, they have already said that they are willing to part with Stoudemire in order to get Paul in the off-season, in order to clear cap space. Possibly even trading Stoudemire during the season would do this. David Stern wants Paul in New Orleans and he will most likely not get traded and will end up becoming a free agent at the end of this season. And as for the part where he might go?? 3 of the 5 teams on here are teams that Paul has said he will re-sing with if he is traded there.
