Bowl games on December 27th aren’t normally the cream of the crop. However, the two games played Tuesday broke the mold. First, there was the wild and wacky Little Caesar Bowl that saw multiple trick plays, onside kicks, and a boatload of turnovers. The Belk Bowl followed the Little Caesar Bowl and added more excitement.
David Amerson of NC State broke the ACC interception record on a pick 6 that gave NC State a 21 point lead. It was Amerson’s 12th pick of the year, breaking Dre Bly’s record of 11. The sophomore added another interception to give him a grand total of 13 for the season.
Averaging an interception a game is almost impossible to do. I doubt that Amerson’s record gets broken anytime soon. Then again, he does have two years of eligibility remaining and he might just have more in store for us next year.
