Keeping Score: Boston Still Wins
THE STAR-LEDGER-US PRESSWIRE

While the Boston area is reeling over the Patriots second loss in their last two Super Bowl appearances, they still have a huge lead in championships over the last ten years. A decade is about the length of time that that people can still find solace in their championships. Boston has had six; not a bad decade. Here are the rankings.

Boston: 6
New England Patriots: 2004, 2005
Boston Red Sox: 2004, 2007
Boston Celtics: 2008
Boston Bruins: 2011

New York: 3
New York Giants: 2008, 2012
New York Yankees: 2009

Los Angeles: 3
Los Angeles Lakers: 2002, 2009, 2010

Pittsburgh: 3
Pittsburgh Penguins: 2009
Pittsburgh Steelers: 2006, 2009

Detroit: 3
Detroit Pistons: 2004
Detroit Red Wings: 2002, 2008

San Antonio: 3
San Antonio Spurs: 2003, 2005, 2007

St. Louis Cardinals: 2
St. Louis Cardinals: 2006, 2011

Chicago: 2
Chicago Blackhawks: 2010
Chicago White Sox: 2005

Anaheim: 2
Anaheim Angels: 2002
Anaheim Ducks: 2007

Miami: 2
Miami Heat: 2006
Florida Marlins: 2003

Tampa Bay: 2
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 2003
Tampa Bay Lightning: 2004

One Each:
Dallas Mavericks: 2011
Green Bay (Wisconsin) Packers: 2011
San Francisco Giants: 2010
New Orleans Saints: 2010
Philadelphia Phillies: 2008
Indianapolis Colts: 2007
(Raleigh) Carolina Hurricanes: 2006
New Jersey Devils: 2003

A couple of notes: Anaheim could be combined with Los Angeles. However, Los Angeles does not claim these teams in their identity. They might include them now, since the Angles have changed their name to include Los Angeles and added the greatest player in the game. The same thing could be said for the Devils and New York. New York only seems to claim the East Rutherford teams (named the Giants and the Jets). Additionally, there have been 39 championships in the past decade because the NHL had no champion in 2005, due to the lockout

Additionally, a lot of cities did not make the rankings at all with a team winning a championship. There are 12 cities with all four sports. Of these cities four cities have no championships in the last ten years: Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Phoenix and Washington D.C.
