New York Giants’ Brandon Jacobs Apologizes For Remarks Toward Gisele Bundchen
Yesterday, New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs directed comments toward Gisele Bundchen after her postgame insult to the New England Patriots. Jacobs is now apologizing for his remarks and said he respects Tom Brady’s wife.
“Given the fact that it’s a colleague of mine’s wife, I do apologize for saying that, because I shouldn’t have said that,” Jacobs said on The Doug Gottlieb Show. “It’s his wife and I should respect that just as much as anyone else.”
When asked about the “cute” comment Jacobs insisted he meant it.
“No question, he should take that as a compliment,” Jacobs said, according to ESPN. “If he finds something wrong with that, then that’s his problem.”
Bundchen made comments about the New England wide receivers after the Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the Giants. While walking toward an elevator after the game, Bundchen was being heckled by Giants fans that were making fun of Brady’s performance.
“My husband cannot f—— throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times,” Bundchen said to the Giants fans.
TheInsider.com captured the entire incident on video which resulted in a Twitter frenzy. After hearing these comments Jacobs told reporters how he felt about Bundchen.
“She just needs to continue to stay cute and shut up,” Jacobs said, according to ESPN.
It is true that several Patriot players including Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez and Deion Branch dropped as many as four catchable passes but Brady had his faults as well. Brady underthrew an open Rob Gronkowski for a potential touchdown, his throw to Welker late in the fourth quarter was not his best of the night and he threw behind a wide open Branch on the last drive of the game. I understand Gisele was frustrated with what the Giants fans were saying to her but the loss should be put on the entire team, including the coaches, not just the wide receivers.
“You can’t point fingers at anybody. Wes made amazing plays all season,” defensive back James Ihedigbo said. “You win it as a team; you win it and lose it as a team. And we lost to a good football team.”
Osi Umenyiora is one of several Giants players who did not mind what Bundchen said.
“I mean, that is her husband,” Umenyiora said, according to ESPN. “She is supposed to stay out of things like that, but at the end of the day that is their relationship and she has the right to say whatever she wants to. Nah, she shouldn’t [apologize]. Listen, man, we just won the Super Bowl. We are not saying nothing about no one, whatever her name is.”
