Pull Your 84 Jerseys Out: WR Randy Moss Announces Intent to Play Football in 2012

By Bryn Swartz

As many have expected him to do for some time, wide receiver Randy Moss has announced his intent to play football in the 2012 season.

Moss, who celebrates his 35th birthday today, announced via a Ustream.tv live video that he wants to play this season.

“I just wanna go to a team and play some football,” Moss said.

Moss ranks ninth in career receptions (954), sixth in receiving yards (14858), and second in receiving touchdowns (153). He led the league in receiving touchdowns five times, which included a single-season record of 23 in 2007, when he helped the Patriots complete the first 16-0 season in league history.

His last year in the NFL was in 2010, when he caught just 28 passes for 393 yards and five touchdowns while playing for three teams: the New England Patriots, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Tennessee Titans.

He remains 46 catches short of becoming the ninth player to reach 1000 career catches, and he needs just 142 yards to become the fourth with 15000 career receiving yards.
