Video: Clint Dempsey Goal Versus Italy

By Riley Schmitt

It’s been a while since the USMNT has put up a goal on Italy.  In fact, it had been 20 years since they had scored a non-penalty goal.

That changed Wednesday as Clint Dempsey buried this pass from Jozy Altidore into the back of the net, giving the USA a 1-0 win.

It was the only goal in the USA’s first win over Italy.  The USA hadn’t won in the previous 11 tries, which dated back to 1930.  Although it as just a friendly, the future looks bright.  Let’s hope this means the USMNT is going to become a world power.  Soccer might not one of the top sport’s here right now, but who says that can’t change?
