Video: Clint Dempsey Puts USA Ahead For Good in Italy

By Jeff Shull

Although it was just a friendly, the USA’s defeat of Italy in Genoa is a huge step in the right direction for Jurgen Klinsmann’s club.

Clint Dempsey scored off a pass from Jozy Altidore, with Carlos Bocanegra getting the hockey assist with his cross to Jozy.

The 1-0 result doesn’t mean anything in terms of World Cup qualifying, but given that this was the US’s first win over Italy in 82 years, and the first time Italy has lost in Genoa, it will give the squad confidence moving forward.

Klinsmann has this team playing great, flowing, and together, which is more than you could say about Bob Bradley’s squad.
