Apparently a marketing genius, or ticket peddler, in the Texans front office didn’t get the memo that the massive DT was no longer a part of the franchise and sent him an offer to purchase a suite at Reliant Stadium anyhow:
Given that Winston seems to be a good guy with a great sense of humor, he took it in stride by posting the suite offer to Twitter so his fans could all enjoy the Texans’ collective ignorance.
Why in the world would you not double-check the list of recipients for marketing materials, especially when one of the recipients is a former player.
Not only has this tweet become viral– the fuel to the fire being it’s appearance on CNNSI’s Hot Clicks this morning– but it just flat out makes the Texans look silly.
For a team trying to create a culture of success, it’s a completely preventable step backwards, but one that will be forgotten about soon enough.
Oh, and if you were wondering whether Eric Winston would have any extra motivation upon his next match up with his former team, I think you now have an answer.
Sometimes this stuff just writes itself.
Thanks to the marketing geniuses in the Texans front office for a great topic in what has been a painfully slow news week so far.
H/T to CNNSI Hot Clicks.
