VID: Was Bobby Knight Sleeping On College Gameday?

Bobby Knight provides so much unintentional humor to ESPN broadcasts. You may not like him because he’s surly and unpleasant, but he’s certainly entertaining. Saturday morning on College Gameday was no exception. Knight was on the main set and it looked like fellow commentator Digger Phelps had to wake Knight up so that he could speak his piece.

That is so awesome. Knight is either deep in thought or deep in sleep. The tap from Phelps was needed to bring Knight back to the land of the awake. I’m impressed by how fast he was able to get back to typical Knight. There was no delay, his head popped right up and he was ready to go.

Maybe Bourbon Street is just too much for Knight in his old age. Knowing him, I’m sure he had a great time. Who wouldn’t enjoy drinking with the general? He would make every bar so fun, especially with the threat of a chair or two being tossed. It’d be just like Roadhouse, only with old people.

We will probably never know if Knight was actually taking a nap. However, the story is that much better if we just think he was. Sleeping on the set is possibly the new high in Knight’s career.
