Originally I was going to wait for definitive proof that Arkansas would fire head coach Bobby Petrino over his motorcycle accident and subsequent coverup but this Tweet grabbed my attention. Courtesy of Petrino’s son.
Thanks to Joe Schad, we have actual confirmation that Petrino is gone.
This comes down after an announcement that the school will address Petrino’s status Tuesday night. This Tweet certainly does not look good for the coach’s future. However, it is nothing confirmed but it seems to be pushing things in the general direction that Twitter is giving off. Numerous reporters have been told to stay by their phone for something that could happen.
I had to switch course half way through here, but Petrino is gone and justice prevails. Petrino straight up lied to his boss. If you lie to your boss, you tend to lose your job. That holds true for almost any walk of life. Even football coaches are not immune to such things.
I was wary that Arkansas would retain him. However, they did the right thing. The SEC tends to value winning over everything but this time they went with the moral decision. Petrino did about everything wrong that he possibly could. No reason for him to be leading the Arkansas program.
I would not be shocked if someone picks him up. Petrino wins football games, even if his character is questionable. This still could change by press conference time, but Rant Sports will keep you posted with all the latest details as they happen.
